Spider-Man star Tom Holland says that being completely ghosted by Norway star Erling Haaland after reaching out to see if he fancied meeting up was ‘humbling’.
In what has to be one of the more bizarre celebrity stories we’ve come across, Holland, 30, revealed that he spotted Haaland, 25, back in June while watching Lewis Hamilton at the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix and decided to see if he wanted to hang out.
However, Holland didn’t get quite the response he was expecting with the footy ace completely blanking the message.
Speaking on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Holland opened up about the awkward incident.

"I was at Monaco. I was watching Lewis race, and I saw him," Holland said.
"He was [in] like a hospitality suite across from me, and I just thought I'd shoot my shot.

"Send him a text. And then, you know, I never imagined I'd talk about it on live television, but here we are."
Thankfully, Holland did talk about it on television and he wasn’t too proud to admit that he got left on ‘read’ by Haaland.
In fact, he even joked that being ignored was an ‘important’ learning experience for him.
He added: “I'll tell you what. That is exactly the type of humbling experience that is important for actors.
“You know, you're like, 'I'll text him. I'll take him to dinner.' Not even a response.
"Not an excuse, not 'I'm busy tonight. I'm playing football.' Nada."
According to earlier reports, Haaland hadn't responded as he doesn't have much time to watch movies and he wasn't aware of who Holland actually was. Ouch.
Despite being ghosted, Holland said he’d still be keen to meet up with Haaland, but given England’s recent win over Norway, which sent them crashing out of the World Cup that ship might have sailed.

“I don't think he would have dinner with me after the other day,” Holland joked.
“He’s incredible. I mean, he’s an absolute legend.”
It’s fair to say that Haaland has certainly achieved legendary status this World Cup, on and off the pitch.
The six-foot-five Norwegian managed to score a seriously impressive 16 goals in eight matches, and the name across the back of his shirt became a major talking point.
Meanwhile, off the pitch his hilarious social media posts earned him an army of new fans across the globe.
And while he might not be going home with the World Cup trophy he did treat himself to a taxidermy racoon as an unusual souvenir of his time in the States.
With Norway out of the competition, it seems that Haaland is throwing his support behind the Three Lions.
He told ESPN: “I’ve been supporting; I think I got an England jersey before I got a Norway jersey when I was young, so of course I want England to do well because it’s a nice country and it’s a nice t-shirt.”
So maybe he might still be persuaded to grab a bite to eat with Holland after all.
