People Are Raving About The Joe vs Carole Series For Diving Deeper Into The Tiger King Story

People Are Raving About The Joe vs Carole Series For Diving Deeper Into The Tiger King Story

The new mini series shows a much more sensitive side to Joe Exotic and Carole Baskin.

Just when you thought you knew everything there was to know about The Tiger King story, think again.

A new mini series titled Joe vs Carole delves much deeper into the narrative and fans appear to be are loving it.

It launched on streaming services earlier this month and stars John Cameron Mitchell as Joe Exotic and Kate McKinnon as Carole Baskin.

Many people who have watched it say it offers a fresh and deeper perspective on the story that we've all come to know.

Following the success of Netflix’s Tiger King, Universal Content Productions greenlit the eight-episode mini series that revolves around Baskin’s life, which is based on the Over My Dead Body podcast called Joe Exotic: Tiger King.

The new show has the internet buzzing and many have taken to Twitter to express their love for it.

One user wrote: “You know w/ me living in Oklahoma, I had to watch this Joe vs Carole show on Peacock. Obv Kate McKinnon is amazing. At first, I wasn’t sure about John Cameron Mitchell as Joe, but he’s an incredibly good actor & is pulling it off quite well.”

Another user said: “Finished #JOEVSCAROLE and I think it's a GREAT series. And there is a purpose to re-telling this story, to balance out the narrative a bit more. Why was Carole Baskin ever the villian? I ended up feeling angry for her, all she ever did was try and fight for animal rights.”

While another wrote: “The new #JoeVSCarole show is fascinating because it’s basically Tiger King, except the angle is just a microcosm of narcissism manifesting itself through two people who are as similar as they are different.”

Rebecca Nicholson from The Guardian also praised the show for not falling into the trap of making these larger than life characters satirical and instead eliciting more empathy from its viewers.

“The choice was clearly made to avoid parody at all costs. This is a sensible move, which, in another strange revelation, turns out to be a quality the story sorely needed," she wrote.

“For all of the operatic insanity, there are tragedies at the heart of it."

No word yet if the show will be renewed, but as the glowing reviews keep rolling in, season two could definitely be on the horizon.

You can watch it on Stan in Australia, Peacock in America, and Sky and NOW TV in the UK.
