One couple got an extra surprise on their wedding day in Hawaii after Aquaman himself - Jason Momoa - arrived to crash their romantic wedding photoshoot.

The actor, who has become famous for his role as the watery superhero as well as the gigantic Khal Drogo in HBO's Game of Thrones appeared all too happy to pose with in the background of their shots with a trident that he just 'happened' to have knocking about.

Yeah, right.

Last Thursday, Momoa was just having an evening stroll on the beach in Oahu when he stumbled across the wedding photograph shoot of Katie Meyers and her new husband Brandon. He was just there for the premiere of Aquaman, but ended up making the young couple's day in the process.

Carina Cooper, who is the wedding co-ordinator for Oahu Boutique Weddings, said to E! News: "It was totally unplanned and spontaneous!

"We were taking our wedding photos after the ceremony out on the rocks and Jason Momoa and some of his family and some friends just all walked out on the beach.

"They were shouting congratulations to us and they were super calm and super chill."

Aye, super spontaneous. I guess there just happened to be an Aquaman trident hanging about, then?

That's the story, anyway. Apparently, Momoa just arrived and the photographer asked if he'd mind jumping into a few shots - something he was more than happy to do.

The photographer, Eric Leslie-Mansperger, said: "He happily agreed to photobomb them! There just happened to be a kid on the beach nearby with that trident (in the pic) and Jason asked to borrow it,

"So, he took the trident and went behind the couple in their picture and pretended to be a sasquatch."

Brandon, the groom, continued: "I think we were just in disbelief.

"I mean, we didn't expect for any of that to happen or know that he was here or anything like that, so it was just fun."

Jason then signed the trident and returned it to the rightful owner before going off on his way.

Katie said: "It was pretty cool to see him just be so nice and sweet and gracious,"

Her husband added: He was really gracious, really down-to-earth and was more than happy to add something special to our day,"

There you go then - if you want to have a memorable wedding day, just ensure that a gigantic Hollywood star shows up and wanders around in the back of shot whilst you have pictures taken.

Easy enough, right?
