Taron Egerton Won't Be Back For Third 'Kingsman' Film

Fans of the brilliant Kingsman movies were delighted to learn that an eagerly anticipated third outing was in the works, but they may be devastated to learn that star Taron Egerton won't be making a return as Eggsy.

Yup, Gary 'Eggsy' Unwin is not set to be making what would be a very welcome return to the big screen.

Speaking to Yahoo Movies, Egerton said: "I don't know how hot off the press this is, and I think I'm allowed to say it, but I'm not in the next Kingsman movie.

"That doesn't mean I won't be in Kingsman ever again. I was with Matthew [Vaughn, series director and writer] as little as a few days ago, we're still very much in business together, but his next journey in that world doesn't involve me."

Egerton played the character of 'roadman turned gentleman spy' in the original 2014 movie Kingsman: The Secret Service and appeared again in last year's Kingsman: The Golden Circle.

According to rumours, Matthew Vaughn will focus the third movie on Secret Service operations in the early 20th Century, which would explain why Eggsy won't be making an appearance.

The movie is tipped to introduce a couple of new characters - a teen called Conrad and an older man, who is rumoured to be played by Ralph Fiennes.

Egerton also revealed he'd spoken to Vaughn about the plot for the third film, telling the news outlet: "His idea for the new one is incredibly exciting.

"I'm sad that I won't be on that journey with him but it's not the last you've seen of Eggsy."

The new movie is set to start shooting in January 2019 and is slated for a November 2019 release.

As well as the third movie, there's also talk of a spin-off series, so it's not all bad news, eh?

And if you're missing Egerton, you can catch him in the new Robin Hood, released on 21 November, or else you can see him step into Sir Elton John's platform shoes for biopic Rocketman.

The teaser trailer for the latter dropped last month and shows Egerton looking very different as a young Elton:

Speaking to Collider about the role earlier this year, he said: "We are making a movie called Rocketman about Elton John's formative years.

"Everyone thinks it's a biopic. It isn't.

"It's a fantasy musical so it's actually his songs used to express important beats in his life at emotional moments. He's not the only character that sings. It's going to be fun."
