Now that we’re currently in the spooky season with Halloween upon us, Netflix has revealed the 10 horror films that viewers find too terrifying to watch until the end.

If you’re a die-hard horror fan and looking for the perfect flick to scare you senseless, the streaming platform has revealed the titles that viewers have struggled to get through.

The criteria was that Netflix users made it at least 70 per cent of the way through the movie before turning it off, unable to watch until the end.

We can’t deny there’s just something about having our flight or fight response triggered while indulging in a little recreational fear.

After all, having fun with fear is an ‘extremely important tool for learning,’ according to Mathias Clasen, director of the Recreational Fear Lab at Aarhus University in Denmark.

According to the Washington Post, Clasen said: “We learn something about the dangers of the world. We learn something about our own responses: What does it feel like to be afraid? How much fear can I take?”

And with that in mind, in no particular order, these are the Netflix movies that will have you genuinely horrified; you might just have to peel yourself off the ceiling.

Whether they’re too suspenseful or nauseating, these movies will have you squirming in your seat.

  1. Cabin Fever
  2. Carnage Park
  3. México Bárbaro
  4. Piranha
  5. Raw
  6. Teeth
  7. The Conjuring
  8. The Human Centipede 2: Full Sequence
  9. The Void
  10. Jeruzalem

So, there you have it. These are the most chilling films on Netflix that will have you profusely sweating and paralysed in fear.

As much as we love Hocus Pocus and Casper, these films are guaranteed to up the ante for you to dip a toe in the horror fiction pool this Halloween.

Just remember to keep the light on.
