Steer well clear of social media if you don't want to get mixed up in the debate about this year's prices at Glastonbury.

The famous festival, which is currently getting underway in Somerset for it's 54th year, is all that anyone who hasn't gone can talk about at the minute - and I promise it's not because we're jealous.

Although we might be missing out on a weekend of enjoying a musical wonderland on Worthy Farm, at least we have saved a few bob and don't have to fork out extortionate amounts for essentials.

While hitting the booze and boogying might be the priority for most festival-goers, staying hydrated takes precedence.

However, when a small 330ml can or a 500ml bottle of water will set you back a hefty £2.50, people are a bit more reluctant to part with their money.

Alternatively, punters can also grab a reusable 'Glastonbury' water bottle for £7.50, which can be filled up at various water points dotted around the humongous site.

But after spotting the pricing of H2O on a picture of the menu at the festival's Village Inn bar, which was shared online, a lot of social media users were quite smug that they were sat at home with aqua on tap.

One said: "£2.50 for a can of water is criminal."

Another sarcastically said: "No cost of living crisis there..." as a third joked: "*Sticks two more bags of wine into the Glasto bag*."

And people weren't too impressed with the costs listed on the rest of the menu either - as X users pointed out that £6 for a pint of coke was a bit excessive and £43.50 for a bottle of Prosecco would break the bank.

"Drink prices at events these days are ridiculous," another added.

However, others pointed out that Glastonbury urge people to take the sustainable approach by using refillable water bottles which can be topped up at taps, WaterAid kiosks and bars - so hydrating is free if you remember your flask.

A statement on the festival's website explains: "We are encouraging all festivalgoers to use a reusable water bottle and refill for free at more than 850 water points, including at 30 bottle-filling stations, seven tap boards and four water bars (at the Pyramid Stage, West Holts, Other Stage and The Park), as well as at six WaterAid kiosks."

As those who have walked Worthy Farm before will know, your legs do a lot of mileage and it's even more exhausting in the glorious sunshine, so drinking plenty of water is essential.

But you can imagine people would still begrudge paying £2.50 for a can of water if they accidentally left their refillable bottle back at their tent.

Sustaining yourself doesn't come cheap at Glasto, as the food and drink prices have left people shocked this year.

Take a look at how much a few bevvies and fuelling yourself up with some grub might cost you:
