Netflix fans have called for Kevin Hart to do more serious roles after one of his latest series.

The American comedian is best known for his roles in films such as Central Intelligence, Get Hard and the Jumanji franchise.

However, it looks like the 44-year-old has began branching out, taking on dramatic roles - starting with the 2021 Netflix drama, Fatherhood.

But a limited series starring the beloved comedian was released on Netflix in November 2021, and it has been well received by fans on social media in particular.

Consisting of just seven episodes, Hart stars as Kid, a world famous comedian and rising screen actor, similar to the man himself.

During a trip to Philadelphia on his tour, a stop to do a show becomes a life or death situation as the comedian comes to blows with his older brother, Carlton, played by Wesley Snipes.

Other actors that star in the series are the likes of Tawny Newsome, Paul Adelstein and Will Catlett among others.

The series is called True Story, and you can view the trailer here:

The action-drama has received praised in Facebook group, Netflix Bangers, where many members have urged Kevin Hart to pursue similar roles in the future.

One user said: "Made me wish Kevin gave up the comedy and went into more serious roles."

Another commented: "Way better than some of his other comedic roles."

A third shared: "Not a Kevin Hart fan but i have watched his serious acting roles and i like them (Fatherhood, and another one he plays a caretaker)."

A different user put: "Loved it. Kevin Hart did a great job considering this isn’t his typical type of movie."

The praise has come despite its modest score of 57% on Rotten Tomatoes and mixed reviews from critics.

Hart starred in heist-comedy film Lift, which was released in January this year and scored a measly 29% - maybe fans are hoping he takes more serious roles on soon.

The American actor has a number of things in the works though, with the likes of action-comedy film Borderlands and crime-drama miniseries Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist set to drop later this year.

The latter of those, set to be released on Peacock in September, focusing on Muhammad Ali's return to boxing in 1970, with the likes of Samuel L. Jackson, Chloe Bailey, Don Cheadle, Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard joining Hart in a stacked cast.
