Stranger Things fans have become convinced that a major character is set to become evil after the release of the final season’s first trailer.
The final season of the show is set to release later this year on Netflix in three parts, with episodes dropping on November 26 and Christmas Day, followed by a final batch of episodes on New Year’s Eve.
The first trailer left fans shocked, with many theorising that it had already revealed the death of a major character on the show.

Whilst some were talking who was going to die, however, others have been worrying that one of the core gang of Stranger Things kids was going to be possessed and become a villain in the final season.
Check out the first trailer here and see if you can figure out who they reckon is set to turn:
The evil turn in question has been heavily theorised by fans in the lead up to the final season based on the end of season four and stills released by Netflix.
The new trailer, however, all but confirmed it for some, with one fan posting a comment on Reddit saying: “Looks like Will’s for sure getting possessed especially because it looks like erica has a syringe in one scene!”

Another comment said: “Is it just me, or does it feel like Will is 100% going to get some kind of power after seeing that trailer? It just seems way too obvious.”
A third fan posted stills of the trailer, saying within it that Will was getting ‘Vecna’d’ and that: “Will is getting possessed.”

The character, whose disappearance into the upside down was the main plot from season one, has previously been hinted to have been possessed or turn evil.
The Duffer Brothers have confirmed that Bob, played by Sean Astin, was originally set to have been killed by a possessed Will in season two before they pivoted to have him killed by a Demogorgon.

Whether Will Byers ends up being possessed due to his connection to the Upside Down or not fans have been left suitably hyped for the final season.
The trailer, which has over 1.2 million views on YouTube and 1.4 million views on X after just two hours, was met with widespread praise from fans.

One comment on the trailer on YouTube said: “This is a perfect example of how you do a teaser trailer.
“You're not getting a synopsis of the entire series. But it perfectly gives you a setting and a vibe that's a teaser.”

Another, on Reddit, said: “That was absolutely f*cking insane for two minutes.”
