Britain's Got Talent fans were treated to the return of an old favourite as Susan Boyle returned to the show's stage to perform songs from Les Misérables alongside the cast of the hit musical.

One of the greatest performers ever to enter Britain's Got Talent, Susan first appeared on the ITV show all the way back in 2009.

She wowed the judges and the audience by performing Les Mis song 'I Dreamed A Dream' and became an overnight sensation.

People in the audience for her first audition said there had been plenty of 'staged rubbish' going on to create the surprising moment we got on TV, but ever since then it's been her incredible voice that people have known her for.

She didn't actually win Britain's Got Talent that year, being pipped to the top spot by the amazing dance troupe Diversity, but her career took off and her performance became the high water mark of auditions on the show.

It was a surprise to be sure, but a welcome one when she appeared on stage on Britain's Got Talent once more during the final.

She was welcomed back to rapturous applause and with open arms by the BGT crowd and judges, and spoke to Ant and Dec about her comeback on the show.

Susan said it was 'great' to be back on the show and revealed that it was all the more special as she'd recently had a health scare.

She said: "It's great, it's very good. It's extra special for me, actually.

"Last April there I suffered a minor stroke and I fought like crazy to be back on stage and I have done it."

Simon Cowell said it was 'unbelievable' to have her back on the show and said he'd known that she'd been unwell.

The Scottish singer's career took off hugely after her appearances on Britain's Got Talent and have earned her millions, though she still likes to live at her childhood home.

It's been done up a bit in recent years, but living in the council house lets her stay in touch with the memories of her childhood and she believes it keeps her grounded.

As for the final itself, this year's Britain's Got Talent was won by Norwegian comedian Viggo Venn in a result which not every viewer agreed with.

Some viewers seemed to take against his victory quite strongly, calling the final result a 'huge letdown' and 'dreadful'.
