Chris Hemsworth's Body Double Says Keeping Up With Actor's Size Is Harder Than Ever

The 'man mountain' just keeps growing

Being Chris Hemsworth's stunt double is a gig that's fun and gruelling in equal measure.

Bobby Holland Hanton travels the world doing flips and scissor kicks for blockbuster films. But by definition, he has to maintain an appearance as close to Hemsworth's as possible - and the bloke just gets bigger and bigger.

The pair are currently Down Under shooting Thor: Love and Thunder and Bobby said Hemsworth is 'the biggest Thor he's ever been'.

Discussing the challenge of keeping up, he told radio show Fitzy & Wippa: "Everyone is like, 'Wow, look at the size and him', but I text him like, 'Thanks very much dude, you've just made this even harder!'

"I train with him a lot, we train all the time, we're on the same diet regime and training.

"He's the biggest Thor he's ever been so I have to be the biggest I've ever been which is a challenge but I'm up for it.

"Every two hours we are eating, it's become a chore, I don't enjoy eating at all, every two hours it's like get calories in, training twice a day, it's full on."

Poor Bobby doesn't even like eating anymore.

As much as he is up for the challenge, Bobby - who grew up in Portsmouth, UK - admits he finds it much harder on the body than his co-worker and pal Hemsworth.

He said: "We're training so much, we are packing on so much size, it's difficult on the body.

"I find carrying around the extra weight is difficult and hard to maintain on the ligaments.

"He's all good, look at him, he's a man mountain."

Bobby has established himself as one of the biggest stunt performers in Hollywood, doubling for actors such as Henry Cavill, Ryan Reynolds, Channing Tatum and Jake Gyllenhaal, as well as just about all of the Chrises: Pine, Evans and, erm, -tian Bale.

Chris Hemsworth is the Chris he has developed the greatest bond with though, working as an expert on his health and fitness app Centr and as his double for the past nine years.

As you might expect when your job is to get thrown off buildings and hit by cars, Bobby has picked up some serious injuries during his career.

Speaking to LADbible, he said: "I snapped my groin off the bone on Thor: Ragnarok just doing a jumping flip kick to try and kick The Hulk in the gladiator scene.

"We did a rehearsal and he is obviously taller so I had a little bit of a wire assist and I was jumping up to kick him. The timing of my kick and the wire pull and me really trying to go for it, I hyper-extended and snapped a bit of my adductor longus [inner-thigh] and rectus abdominis [abs] off the bone, which took a little while to heal.

"I've had two back operations. I've had a double disc replacement in my L4 L5 levels and I've got six screws, three either side now, my spine stretched and my two facet joints removed, or parts of my facet joints removed."
