With Daniel Craig officially hanging up the keys to his Aston Martin after the release of No Time To Die in April, speculation is rife over who will take the coveted role in cinematic history.

Keen to make sure he's considered by the film's casting team, former Harry Potter star Tom Felton has thrown his hat in the ring too. Speaking in an interview with Closer Magazine, the 32-year-old actor said: "James Bond would be the ultimate dream...The first film I had, when I was seven years old was James Bond. That's all I had on my mind."

While many of us will remember Tom Felton for his stint as the weedy and vengeful villain Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter film saga, it might be hard for the actor to break out of his typecast role as 'the bad guy' in films.

The actor insisted: "I like playing the goodie, but I don't really look to play a good guy or a bad guy.

"I like playing people who are different to me - the further away they are from home, the more fun it is to play."

As keen as he is for the highly sought after role, he'll have some stiff competition as possible competition for the job is rumoured to be Game of Thrones and Bodyguard star Richard Madden, as well as Happy Valley actor James Norton.

Rumours have been wildly circulating for some time that Idris Elba will become the first black James Bond, and some are calling for a woman to be cast in the role.

Series producer Barbara Broccoli has refused to be drawn in on rumours however, and insists she doesn't know who will step into the famous shoes to be the next James Bond after Daniel Craig finishes his last film.

She said: "I'm in total denial. I've accepted what Daniel has said, but I'm still in denial. It's too traumatic for me."

Yet when asked about a female James Bond, the producer was clear: "I believe we should be creating new characters for women - strong female characters. I'm not particularly interested in taking a male character and having a woman play it. I think women are far more interesting than that."

So while he might not have to fight off a female for the role, we still think Tom might have some fierce competition for the next person to be able to say the famous words: "Bond, James Bond".
