Clarkson’s Farm fans shocked after aerial footage shows just how big Diddly Squat farm is

Clarkson's Farm is massive from the drone footage

Clarkson's Farm fans have been left shocked after various creators took aerial drone footage of Diddly Squat Farm, revealing just how massive it is.

The TV presenter purchased the farm for £6 million in 2008. After the farmer who initially ran the land retired in 2019, Clarkson decided to take it over himself, telling The Times in 2021 that he'd made the purchase mainly because you don't have to pay death duties on the land.

It is fair to say that the £6 million has just about paid itself off, with the presenter being revealed to have earned a whopping £160 million for a three-season TV deal.

Fans, however, are shocked at the reveal of just how much Clarkson got for his £6 million investment after aerial footage revealed the size.

Footage of the farm from above was taken by TikTok drone creator CotswoldAerial, with their footage of Clarkson’s Farm being the most successful yet.

Fans were shocked to realise the pure scale of his farm, with one comment saying: “Think about he owns that.

“Like a person actually owns all of that.”

Another said: “Never realised it was that big!!”

Whilst the footage made its way to the US and Canada, where farmers commented calling it a ‘hobby farm’, the size of Diddly Squat makes it five times larger than the average size of a farm in the UK.

The farm spans a thousand acres, which is quite sizable for a British farm, particularly one that is largely a pig farm.

Kaleb Cooper spoke about the size of the farm on BBC Radio Oxford, saying: "It's a 1,000-acre farm, so it's very big.

"The majority of the farms around here are averaging about 150-200 acres. You get the odd big farm that's got 2,000 for example...but to have 1,000 is a big old chunk really."

The farm operates on a combination of growing crops and raising livestock.

These are showcased throughout the shows, featuring pigs, cows, and crops such as barley, rapeseed, wheat, potatoes, and echium, all of which are highlighted at various points throughout the series.

At the time of writing, only the first four episodes of Clarkson's Farm season four are available on Prime Video, which focuses predominantly on Clarkson growing his operation and looking to buy a pub.
