If you're a faithful fan of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!, then you’ll know all about the 'Celebrity Cyclone' trial that takes place at the end of the series... but maybe not an injury that one of the hosts suffered as a result of it.

For those of you who don’t know, it’s a challenge that sees the remaining celebrities in the I'm A Celeb camp stand on a floating circle in a rapids river to earn themselves some dinner.

But with this being |'m A Celeb, it's not plain sailing, as it sees the unfortunate celebs be pelted with obstacles like gym balls and footballs, as well as enduring high-speed winds, foam, water and slime.

On Saturday (6 December), the remaining celebs took on the challenge, which saw rapper Aitch, streamer Angry Ginge, actress Shona McGarty, and E4 Celebs Go Dating host Tom Read Wilson step up to the podium.

While it’s not normally too dangerous a venture, it did once end up causing host Declan Donnelly a rough time that required some medical intervention.

Hosts Ant and Dec are normally on the sidelines and like to laugh at the failing contestants during the gristly trials, but on one occasion over a decade ago, they decided to give the Cyclone a go themselves - but it all went horribly wrong for Dec.

The Geordie duo took part in a special edition of the Celebrity Cyclone challenge for the Text Santa charity, but Dec ended up with some pretty knarly injuries.

In fact, he hurt himself so badly that he was left needing the help of a physiotherapist for six months.

Many celebs have required medical treatment throughout the show's history, so it's no surprise that Dec wasn't an exception.

Dec opened up about the Celebrity Cyclone in 2022, saying: "We're doing the Celebrity Cyclone today. It's always fun to do, but it takes a while to do. It takes a long time to get everything set up and get all the paint bombs set up and all the sludge and the slime.

"Yeah, it takes a long time but it is fun, the most fun. Everybody who watches the show always wants to give it a go. We've actually done it in the past. We've done the trial."

Ant added: "We did it for charity years ago, didn't you pop your shoulder?"

Dec recalled the wince-inducing incident: "Yeah I did. I ended up in physio for six months afterwards. But it was great fun."

This year's cyclone had people calling it the most dramatic and best one yet, with Tom taking a tumble, Aitch nearly losing his clothes, and the presenters being left in stitches.

One person online who watched it all wrote: "Tom dropping the stars already #ImACeleb".

And another added: "Fancy making Tom go first when he's never watched/heard of cyclone #imaceleb."

The final of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! airs tonight at 9pm on ITV.
