Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan has given an honest answer about whether or not the iconic series will ever return.
It's been 17 years since we were first introduced to Walter White, a chemistry teacher who cooks meth with an ex-student to pay for his cancer treatment, and the appetite for further spin-offs involving the Breaking Bad universe has not waned.
Since the conclusion of the main series in 2013, Gilligan has created spin-offs, including Better Call Saul and El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie; however, this hasn't stopped fans from hoping for more content.
It's not surprising that fans are hungry for more Breaking Bad-related content, either, given the fact that the series is widely considered to be one of the best ever.

Whilst Gilligan has launched his brand new show Pluribus, which, despite fan theories to the contrary, he claims has nothing to do with Breaking Bad, many fans would be desperate to see the writer working in the world of Breaking Bad again.
But what does Gilligan think about the continued interest in the series?

In an exclusive interview with LADbible, he addressed the ongoing interest in another series set in the same world.
When asked about the potential to return to the show's world, particularly fan clamour to see a prequel series focused on Giancarlo Esposito's character Gustavo Fring, he said: "They would all interest me.
"More to the point, working, for instance, with Giancarlo Esposito, he’s a wonderful guy and a tremendous actor. I would love to work with him again, I intend to.
"Yeah, that interests me, but the idea of just doing the one world and the one general story over and over again, that kind of scares me. I’m a little resistant to that. I figured, as scary as it was to do something brand new, Pluribus, I felt like it was important for me personally to stretch my muscles and try something new.
“I wouldn’t rule out revisiting the Breaking Bad world in the future, but I also want to leave people wanting more."

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Gilligan reiterated his caution over creating more content, adding that he'd rather leave fans disappointed with a lack of new content than risk making a show which damaged Breaking Bad's overall legacy.
"The other thing is I live in fear of messing up people’s memories of both shows," he said. "I’d rather leave a little money on the table, a little desire on the table, a little want for new Breaking Bad stories."
He was similarly optimistic, however, saying: "There’s a lot of ways to reboot Breaking Bad and even build shows around characters from Better Call Saul," before praising the talent of the 'amazing actors' who made up the cast for the main series and spin-offs.
"Pretty much any of the major players from either show could carry their own TV show. The same goes for the astounding actors we worked with on El Camino," he said.
Gilligan went on to say that he'd 'never say never' when it came to making more Breaking Bad content, but cautioned that he was to write characters who were heroes instead of villains, adding: "I’m not tired of it. I’m not worn out on it. But I am ready for a hero, for a change, instead of a villain or an anti-hero."
