Five-Year-Old's Gruelling First Day Back At School Goes Viral
If anything should make you spare a thought for kids in Scotland as they return to school this week, it's these hilarious 'before and after' photos that show the very real effects that a first day back in the classroom had on five-year-old Glaswegian, Lucie.
Taken in the morning before she headed off to begin the new term after her summer holidays, the first photo shows Lucie next to her big brother (just out of shot).
Dressed smartly in a neatly ironed school uniform, wearing a beaming smile, her hair is perfectly combed, her bow is in perfect position, and you could practically see your face in her shoes. Truly, she is ready for the big day.
The second photo was taken as she returned from school and, well, let's just say it looks like it was a tough day in the classroom for the young student - that or she stood in front of a large wind turbine for most of the day; but, hey, you should see what I look like after a day at work. Or before work. Or just in general.
According to her mother Jill, from Glasgow, Scotland, her daughter's frazzled appearance wasn't down to anything too distressing - in fact it was more likely the result of an enjoyably busy day, catching up with friends she hadn't seen since the end of June.
After seven weeks off, though, it's no surprise that the youngster's return to school did take a toll on Lucie, and she was reportedly in bed far earlier than normal. I envy her.
Speaking to The Metro, her mum said: "She had her skirt round her ankles almost and a bow at the back of her hair. I think her clothes were too big slightly and she was pleased to see her friends."
Of course, kids being kids the exact circumstances that led to Lucie coming home so tired remain a mystery.
Her mum added: "I did say to her, 'What did you do today?' and got usual reply all children give, 'Oh, nothing much'.
Lucie is the youngest of Jilian's four children.
"She's the smallest and is a wee madame," said the amused mother, although any further attempts to gain insight into the so far untold turmoil of her first day back may prove futile.
"She is normally very shy," Jill said, "except when she's around her brothers."
Not to worry, Lucie, I reckon that all these brilliant photos show is someone truly living their best life.
