Thieves Try To Siphon Bus Fuel, But Hook The Hose To The Sewage Pipe

Thieves Try To Siphon Bus Fuel, But Hook The Hose To The Sewage Pipe

This must have been hard for them to swallow.

OK, before we begin - karma probably isn't real. The world is too full of people who get away with things that are awful all the time and never get their comeuppance.

However, sometimes - just sometimes - the universe does actually find a way. Here is the story of one such occasion.

In Australia, a group of thieves decided to try to siphon petrol out of a coach so that they could put it into their car and get away.

The plan was to go up to the touring coach in the middle of the night, stick a hosepipe into the gas tank of the other vehicle, start sucking for long enough for some petrol to get to the other end, spit, then place the hosepipe into a jerry can to take the petrol back to their car.

Well, that was the plan, at least. In reality, they got an awful lot more than they'd bargained for - they'd hooked the hosepipe up to the coach's sewage tank, which carries a completely different type of cargo to the fuel tank.

Life is full of horrific lessons, whether that's your parents telling you that you can't have that toy that you really, really wanted, or whether that's sucking a whole load of concentrated shit and piss down a length of hose whilst trying to rob somebody's petrol, you learn, and you learn quickly.

The police arrived on the scene afterwards to investigate, and one of them said: "We can infer they [made] a very hasty retreat, with a somewhat bitter taste in their mouth."

The police said at the time that they were trying to ascertain the culprits and track them down, but they are probably not going to catch them. They were also at pains to say that they have "absolutely zero interest" in recovering the stolen goods.

Even if they did, has any crime been committed? Surely they're welcome to help themselves to whatever they want from the sewage tank of a bus?

So many questions.

Either way, from a law-enforcement perspective, whoever was on the other end of the shit-pipe has probably suffered enough. They probably won't be trying to siphon any other coach gas tanks any time soon - or at least they'll know the difference.

Only a very cruel judge would say that they've not been punished enough.

The moral of the story is: don't try to steal things from other people, because whilst you may get away with it the first few times, eventually you're going to end up having to swallow a whole heap of human excrement.

Figuratively speaking.
