A busy day out and about means only one thing for millions of Brits, and that thing is a trip to Maccies.

One of the world's most recognisable logos, everyone knows what the golden arches are. And when you're struggling for time and haven't eaten for most of the day because you've been a bit busy, McDonald's truly can save the day before the hangry thoughts take over.

And now, the fast food chain is not only saving the day but also saving you money.

The American fast food giant, which has been around for almost 85 years by this point, has recognised a change in the UK calendar and as such, acted accordingly.

From today (15 July), McDonald's confirmed it was slashing the cost of one of its menu favourites to just £1.99.

That's right. Up until Wednesday, 30 July, Brits can take advantage of a bargain Happy Meal offer.

There is a trick to it, though, and a cap on how many you get buy at this price.

You can only get a £1.99 Happy Meal - which is 40 percent less than standard - once a day and it must be ordered via the McDonald's app on your iPhone or Android phone.

Maccies made the announcement alongside the launch of a new special edition Despicable Me 4 Happy Meal.

And the announcement comes as McDonald's revealed it is axing a burger from its menu that, until recently, hadn't even existed.

McDonald's has been in the UK for half a century come the end of 2024.

As a result a brand new dessert item will be hitting the menu as well as special McFlurries, the return of popular burgers and special cheese dippers.

With the new menu dropping on Wednesday (17 July), Maccies will be saying auf wiedersehen to a recent addition added for Euro 2024.

Maybe it's for the best, though, as we're not sure England fans will want to be reminded about how the tournament ended any time soon.

The burger leaving the menu is 'The Hat Trick' which was launched at the end of May 2024.

In case you’ve not yet tried it, the burger features three beef patties, two slices of cheese, grilled onions, mustard and ketchup sandwiched between a glazed sesame seed bun.

Still available until tomorrow, the burger is priced at £5.89 on its own and at £7.69 as a medium meal. 'The Hat Trick' was also joined by Mozzarella bites on the menu, along with Skittles and Galaxy Caramel McFlurries.
