A lorry driver operating a HGV has lifted the latch on how much he earns in a single year.
In a video posted on the hgvmeta YouTube channel, the agency driver admitted that his workload varies a lot - from six shifts a week to someone only one or two.
Last year, he took off 38 days, not including Christmas and Boxing Day, but managed to keep up a relatively balanced lifestyle.
His first major role was with Iceland in Enfield, which he recommends for new drivers due to consistent work and overtime.

And then his his second role, with Forward Trucking Services, was less rewarding financially and professionally, contributing to some of his lowest weekly earnings.
When he moved to Sainsbury’s, he said they provided better rates, night shifts and a depot closer to home.

In the run-up to Christmas, his weekly take-home pay regularly pushed past the £1,100 mark, with weeks of £1,117, £1,228, £1,243 and even £1,304.
His best week of the entire year went even higher, hitting £1,537.51 after tax.
At the other end of the scale, however, one of his lowest weeks dropped to just £173.52, and there were even weeks where he earned nothing at all due to lack of shifts or taking time off.
By the end of the year, his total salary came to £54,267.26 after tax.

“You can’t judge agency work off one bad week, you might have some bad weeks, but you’ll also have some really good ones,” he explained.
“The total I made as an agency HGV driver in one year is £54,267 after tax… that’s with time off, job changes, low weeks and even zero weeks included.
“That’s not gross, that’s not before deductions—that’s the money that hit my bank account.”
HGV drivers are responsible for transporting goods across the country, often delivering to supermarkets, warehouses and distribution centres.
The job involves long hours, careful route planning and a lot of skill when it comes to manoeuvring large vehicles into tight delivery spaces.
Agency driving, in particular, means you’re not tied to one company—you pick up shifts from different employers, which gives flexibility but also leads to inconsistent work and pay.
“That’s why agency can work if you move smart,” he added.
The driver told LADbible that he has 'also started HGVAcademy.com to help new drivers get their HGV license with no hassle. We got a school in west London'.
