A queen of spades tattoo can mean a variety of things, depending on who you ask.
For some, it's recognised as a statement of personal strength and intelligence, and for others it's more about wisdom or a nod to a more rebellious side.
According to some subcultures of the internet, however, the queen of spades tattoo can be used to represent a white woman's preference for black men or participation in interracial relationships.
"It typically involves women getting a permanent or temporary tattoo on their bodies of a queen of spades symbol with the letter Q on it," says one person on Quora.

"It is usually kept hidden but when exposed it basically means that those women are looking for sex exclusively with black men at that moment."
Another person revealed that they 'wear temporary versions' of the tattoo so her husband is 'unaware of my interest and activities'.

"When I am showing a QOS tattoo it means I am looking for a black man or a men to have sex with. I only use the temporary ones so that I can hide it from my husband," they said.
Over on Reddit, a user speculated that it's also 'a niche subculture that has been popularized by sissification and feminization/crossdressing communities, but it's not exclusive to them'.
"They usually identify with a Black spade tattoo with a Q inside of it. Design and aesthetic varies, but they're typically found on the butt, just above it, on a hip or thigh, or another intimate area, as a way to signify that person either prefers or exclusively has sex with only black men. I don't know the history behind it, but it is a thing," they added.

Despite many comments claiming to know the meaning, as many people are completely baffled by the theory and insist they've never heard of it.
"I've never heard that meaning for that tattoo. Even a quick Google doesn't bring up anything about that," one person comment.
"You’re not trying to pull a cruel prank on me, right?" another said, while someone else suggested to ignore the alleged sexual connotations and to 'just get the tattoo, that symbolism is pretty niche'.
"If it was the queen of clubs, I might think it's something to do with my favorite card game. But spades? No idea," a fourth person wrote.
