A woman has opened up about the serious side effects associated with powerful weight-loss medication dubbed 'exercise in a jab'.
With Wegovy and Mounjaro now rolled out across the UK, manufacturers are looking for the next generation of injectable GLP-1 drugs, with the jab known as Retatrutide currently undergoing clinical trials.
Known as the 'triple-G' or 'Godzilla' of weight-loss medication, Retatrutide is essentially the final boss of weight-loss jabs, as it targets three different hormone receptors to suppress appetite and increase fat burning.
Initial clinical trials have suggested the drug, manufactured by Eli Lilly, is extremely effective, with a recent study revealing that patients were able to lose around 28.3 percent of their body weight.

But like all GP-1 medications, taking Retatrutide is not without side effects, as one woman recently opened up about hitting 'rock bottom' while using the medication.

Sharing her experience on TikTok, lifestyle and fitness creator Tiann (@Tiannmolnar) revealed that she'd suffered from severe side effects while taking the medication.
"If you're taking reta and you're suffering severe side effects, I'm here to tell you to get off it," she told her followers. "Don't push through."
Tiann went on to explain that she suffered from side effects such as fatigue, nausea, mental health decline, and struggles with motivation.
"[It] affected my work, relationships, my home life, gym life," Tiann continued. "It's s**t that I had to hit rock bottom."
Although Tiann did not disclose her reasons for taking Retatrutide, the content creator added that she'd been feeling a lot better since binning the medication and urged others to do the same if they were experiencing adverse side effects.
"The best thing I did was throw it out," she said. "It gets so much better on the side once you get rid of it."
Retatrutide side effects
Bolt Pharmacy explained that, like all other GLP-1 medications, Retatrutide users experienced side effects relating to the gastrointestinal system.
In Phase 2 trial data, the most commonly reported adverse effects included:
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Diarrhoea
- Constipation
- Decreased appetite

Is retatrutide licensed for weight-loss?
No, Retatrutide is not currently licensed for weight management in the UK or anywhere else in the world as it is still undergoing clinical trials.
Despite this, there are several accounts of people using the medication for weight loss online.
"It has not been approved by any regulatory agency in the world, and so it cannot be sold. It is still going through clinical trials to check whether it’s a safe, effective drug for weight loss," Dr Zoe Miller explained to ASDA Online Doctor.
Dr Miller went on to add that any retetrutide medication available to purchase online is likely to be 'unregulated and possibly dangerous'
