Brits urged to fly to ‘Hawaii of Europe’ holiday island with year long summers and no UK time difference

It's a much shorter flight away but with stunning weather

Sure, the summer holidays are nearly over (sorry to point that out) but that doesn’t mean the time for holidays is done for another year.

That’s the plus of not being in school anymore, we can pretty much go travelling whenever we want. Although, you do still need to contend with the weather if you’re wanting to go somewhere hot.

So, places with year-long summers tend to come in handy, like this supposed ‘Hawaii of Europe’ holiday island.

Brits are being urged to fly to the spot with no UK time difference as it’s added to the likes of the ‘Maldives of Europe’ or the ‘Thailand of Europe’.

And people don’t seem to be too disappointed with trips to those two.

Earning its dreamy comparison to the tropical island, it boasts beautiful beaches, plenty of palm trees and stunning scenery just without quite as long a flight. Sounds good enough, right?

Oh, and there’s a famous statue of one of their most famous sons that you might have heard of before. I'm of course on about the Portuguese island of Madeira, which sits in the Atlantic Ocean just off the coast of Morocco.

The capital, Funchal, has all of the food and drink you can eat, and the island itself boasts some of Europe’s finest scenery.

There’s a bit of something for everyone, whether you like your holiday to be active and involve mountain trekking and hiking, or whether you just prefer lounging about and enjoying a relaxing time.

Madeira is a volcanic island that is home to sweet wine – the one that bears its name – and the famous Cristiano Ronaldo, who you can see a statue of at the airport.

Unfortunately it’s no longer that mad statue of his head, which looked a little bit like the clay head from Art Attack!

If you are a big Ronaldo fan, there is actually a museum dedicated to the great man, the CR7 Museum, on the island as well.

If you aren’t there’s still plenty to do.

The island enjoys a year-long summer, with temperatures between the high teens and mid 20s pretty much whenever you choose to visit.

What’s more, the time doesn’t even change when you get there from the UK.

Because it’s so small, you can drive around the whole island in just a matter of hours, too.

That means there’s plenty of scope to explore.

If beautiful natural swimming pools made from volcanic rock, quaint but beautiful architecture, sweet wine, and lovely scenery aren’t for you, then Madeira isn’t the place for you.

However, if that sounds good to you, you could do worse than heading off for some winter sun in Madeira.
