Emirates flight attendant breaks down exactly how much she earns working for airline
A woman who worked as a flight attendant for Emirates broke down exactly how much money she made to put up with being sealed in a metal tube and having to deal with the public.
Veronica Baltoff spent 10 years employed by Emirates, so she knows all the ins and outs of how much she was earning, how much people in her old jobs are making now and where to make some extra money.
Explaining it all in a YouTube video, she started off on a basic rate of $1,063 (£801) a month, which doesn't sound like very much but needs to have the flying fee added as well.
Veronica said she was initially on $12 (£9) per flying hour, and would typically do between 90 and 100 flying hours a month which, as you can probably tell, would make up the larger share of her salary.

That's how it was back when she started, and the former flight attendant knows that these days she'd have been paid $1,315 (£991) a month and $18 (£14) per flying hour.
As for Veronica, she first got promoted, so her basic rate was $1,293 (£975) a month, and then advanced to become a supervisor, which had a basic rate of $1,600 (£1,206) a month, and $27 (£20) per flying hour.
She also imparted some sage advice on how to make more money while in the sky, by being the person who sells the duty free and getting the commission on it.
"A little advice for you if you do get higher, try to learn duty free as fast as you can and try to get assigned the duty free position if you like selling," she told people in her video.
They got commission for every sale made to customers, so being the person making the sales was a good way to boost the earnings even further.
Then there were other allowances on top of earnings to pay for layovers, transport and accommodation.
Veronica said that they'd be given allowances to pay for food during a layover, but the amount would vary significantly depending on the location and how long they'd be staying for.
A day's stay in London would have her given £50 to cover her food costs while there, and when landing in Milan, she was given €90 (£77) for a layover there.
However, the most lucrative one for flight attendants was Luanda, everyone wanted that one because the food allowance was $500 (£377) since the area was so expensive.
She mentioned that many flight attendants would still bring food from home to save more money.
As for accommodation and transport allowances, these could be a lot per month, but they were only if you didn't live in crew accommodation, with Veronica being given $1,600 a month for live-in allowance and $130 for transport allowance.
