Ever wonder how much money you would have made if you'd invested in SpaceX a few years ago?
Quite a lot, if these predictions are anything to go by.
Today (12 June), it was announced that the company's outspoken founder, Elon Musk, was set to become a trillionaire, after the company made its debut on the Wall Street Stock Exchange.
SpaceX, which is heavily involved in NASA's Artemis programme, has received a valuation of $1.77 trillion (roughly £1.31 trillion) after its first Initial Public Offering (IPO) earlier today, meaning it is now one of the world's largest public companies.

According to The Guardian, the company sold roughly 555,555,555 shares of its Class A common stock.
Meanwhile, Musk owns 40 percent of the company, meaning an inflation in the overall value of the company boosts his wealth.

But while all of us can now invest in SpaceX, should we wish, we're unlikely to make the same returns that people who had the opportunity to invest years ago will do.
According to Reuters, Musk had previously been more selective when it came to who invested in the company, with companies and high-net-worth individuals only able to access stock through private markets.
But if you were one of the lucky individuals who were able to access SpaceX stock, here's how much money you'd have now.
How much money would you have made if you had invested in SpaceX?
Let's say, for example, you were able to invest in SpaceX back in 2021, when Forbes reported the company had increased its valuation through private investor transactions, you would have likely seen your investment returned several times over.

In October 2021, the private market valuation was listed at $100 billion, while the pre IPO valuation last year was listed at $800 billion, marking an increase of eight times over.
So, if you'd invested $1000 back in 2021, your stocks would be worth $8000.
And if you'd have had the spare cash to invest further, you'd have made even more.
For example, an investment of:
- $5,000 would have increased to $40,000
- $10,000 would have increased to $80,000
- $80,000 would have increased to $125,000
Which isn't too bad a return on five years.

How much are SpaceX shares now?
For those of you out there who aren't well-connected in the world of investing (which is likely all of us, myself included) but fancy getting a slice of the pie, shares are currently listed at $135 (£100) per share.
But be warned, just because the company has grown exponentially in the past few years, it doesn't guarantee you'll make the same returns, and it is not a plunge to take without first doing your research on the stock market in general.
