Camera footage managed to capture the moment a devoted Golden Retriever stopped his owner from getting in harm's way when she came home after a night out.

Hannah Quintus uses a pet camera to keep an eye on her dog Jax when she's not at home, hoping to make sure he's okay.

One day, the device was still filming when she came in after an evening out - when she admitted she'd had a 'few too many'.

Thankfully, two-and-a-half-year-old Jax was on hand (or, rather, paw) to make sure Hannah got into bed safely, watching on as his tipsy owner moved around the house.

In the footage, which has been viewed millions of times online, Hannah can be seen throwing pillows onto her bed, but ends up stumbling backwards.

As she puts out her hands to help steady herself, quick-thinking Jax leaps into action, stopping Hannah from falling by jumping up and placing his front paws on her shoulders.

He then guides her back over to her bed, before gently pressing on her shoulders so that she sits down.

Hannah shared the incredible video on TikTok, writing: "Came home after a few too many and caught this video on my petcam."

The clip has three million views on the social media platform, where it's also received thousands of comments.

Many people commented to say how impressed they were by Jax's actions, with many saying he is the 'best dog ever'.

Someone else said: "Hahaha omg this is so impressive."

A third said the video was 'so cute', while a fourth person added: "My dog and cat would have teamed up to trip me."

Speaking to the Daily Star, Hannah said of the footage: "When I watched it for the first time I was kind of surprised actually.

"It took me watching it a couple of times to realise what he was doing, then I was amazed."

Hannah has had Jax since he was seven weeks old, and posts about their life together on TikTok and Instagram.

She explained that he has a natural caring nature and loves hugs - and in return he's 'the most spoiled dog' ever, often rewarded with toys and food - his favourite snacks being ice cream and cheese.
