A 'superhero' dog was seen helping two women to safety after their car got stuck in flood waters in Glasgow, having teamed up with its owner to push the vehicle to safety.

Various parts of Scotland continue to be battered by heavy downpours, with some roads in Glasgow completely submerged by rainwater.

But when two people found themselves stuck in their car, a woman called Lori Gillies came to their rescue - along with her dog, Puck.

Incredible footage shows as Gillies starts pushing them out of the deep flood waters to higher ground, while her pet swims around her.

Suddenly, Puck decides to stop larking about and moves over to the car, putting its front paws onto the back to begin pushing with Gillies.

The clip was posted on Facebook by Gillies, who explained she'd been sent it by a friend - saying it had been filmed by a 'local dude' called Davie Keel.

"Just doing a good deed helping this car and its owners get to drier land," she said in the caption.

"Someone has filmed it and sent it to their pal, who sent it to my pal who sent it to me.

"Puck really is the best dog in the whole wide world."

Gillies also gave a shoutout to the hilarious commentary from 'legend' Keele, who can be heard in the video saying: "The dog's pushing it and all now. Brilliant.

"Aww yes, what a dog man. Look at that.

"Dog's knackered, having a break."

Speaking to the Daily Record, 33-year-old Gillies said Puck was rewarded with a special dinner of meat and gravy and some biscuits.

She recalled: "Puck and I were out on our usual walk and there was a car that was stuck in the water.

"There were two women inside and I went down to give them a hand.

"We've never really had flooding as bad as that there.

"Puck was just swimming next to me and I took my phone out to video him and then he started pushing it.

"Once the handbrake was off it was just a quick push or two and then it started rolling."

Many viewers also had nothing but praise for the four-legged 'hero', with one writing: "Best dog for helping push."

Someone else said: "Omg Lori. Puck is the real hero here."

A third commented: "I know that dug!! Wee puck the superhero!!"
