Brooklyn Beckham defends himself after cork is spotted floating in his food

The aspiring chef has explained the reasoning for the unusual addition to his food

Brooklyn Beckham has responded after eagle-eyed social media users spotted a wine cork floating in his food.

The 24-year-old aspiring chef, who recently said food was his ‘passion’, shared a snap of himself cooking up a storm in the kitchen while wearing a sling holding one of the smallest pups I’ve ever seen.

In another shot, he could be seen drinking a glass of red wine, while the pooch - a rescue named Peanut - watched on.

Captioning the shots, Beckham wrote: “Daddy day care [heart emoji].”

But some fans were less interested in what he was cooking and more intrigued by the fact that there was a) a cork in his scran and b) a dog in the kitchen very close to where he was cooking.

One wrote: “Erm don't choke on the wine cork.”

Another said: “Are you supposed to cook with the cork in the pot?”

While a third commented: “There’s a cork in your pot …. & dog hair about to join.”

Someone else asked: “Why are you cooking the cork for bro?”

A fourth follower quipped: “Cork-vin chicken?”

However, Beckham - who is the son of footballer David and fashion designer Victoria - revealed there was a legit reason behind the floating cork.

In an update to his Instagram Stories, he shared a screenshot of some text that explained: “More research ensued and we found information that the addition of wine corks added to the cooking liquid ensured a more tender dish.” So that’s his followers told, then.

The 24-year-old explained why he had chucked a cork into his food.

During a quick Q&A with his followers, Beckham replied to a question asking him if he was a chef, to which he replied: “NOPE X but food is my passion.”

This isn’t the first time poor Becks has taken a roasting over his cooking - earlier this year, he was criticised for sharing an ‘out of touch’ recipe featuring pricy truffle as a main ingredient.

The pasta dish was made with truffle cream sauce, topped off with a heavy serving of fresh truffle shavings.

Accompanying the video Beckham wrote: "In my kitchen no such thing as too much truffle."

But, considering a single truffle can range from being around £20 to literally hundreds, it's no surprise a lot of people won't be trying this recipe for themselves.

Taking to the comments section, one person wrote: "I wish I could afford the idea of 'no such thing as too much truffle'."

"We're in a Costy Livs Crisis Brooklyn," said another, while a third added: "Completely out of touch."
