Chicken Crimpy has been voted Australia's best Shapes flavour

Finally...we have an answer!

The debate over the best Shapes flavour has left this country extremely divided.

Just like bringing up politics or religion at the dinner table, topics like these can quickly escalate into a heated discussion.

But alas, we finally have an answer that has plagued mankind since the dawn of time.

Is it Nacho Cheese? Vegemite? Cheese and Bacon? Pizza?

You’d be wrong to think so.

For the first time in Shapes history, Chicken Crimpy has been crowned an official Flavour of Footy, backed by thousands of votes from Aussies nationwide.

I mean, it’s really hard to go wrong with this flavour, as this rigid biscuit with extra saltiness is honestly chef’s kiss.

Krishma Sood, Marketing Manager for Shapes, revealed that the ongoing debate over the best Shapes packet was a nail-biter between Chicken Crimpy and Barbecue.

“We’ve always known how passionate Shapes fans are, but witnessing the battle between Chicken Crimpy and Barbecue play out this weekend has levelled up this ongoing debate,” she said.

“It was a nail-biter both on and off the field last night, but it was the contest online that truly kept us on the edge of our seats of who would officially take out the 2023 Flavour of Footy,” Sood added.

But fear not Barbecue lovers, second place is nothing to be ashamed of.

Research commissioned by Arnott's in 2021 also found interesting insights about every state's Shapes flavour preferences.

Victorians placed Barbecue (24 per cent) up the top, while New South Wales still put Chicken Crimpy (24 per cent) first.

Queenslanders are also fans of the Chicken Crimpy with 26 per cent, while Tasmania was neck and neck with Pizza (30.87 per cent) and Barbecue (30.71 per cent).

However, ACT residents are big fans of Nacho Cheese (26 per cent), with only Pizza falling narrowly behind with 26 per cent.

But two years before that, Barbecue was voted the number one flavour.

Perhaps she’ll reclaim her crown once again in 2024. Only time will tell.
