A diagnosed psychopath has opened up 'letting his sister drown' and why it was the first clue of his mental illness.
For better or worse, people are extremely open about their personal lives these days, whether it's enjoying watching your wife with another man, or using dating apps to get people to fix things in your house.
Loic De Marie is no different, as he speaks regularly about his life as a diagnosed psychopath, although whether he includes that on his Tinder profile is another question entirely.
The Belgian is one of several people on the internet trying to shine a light on what it's like to live as a psychopath, considering all the negative connotations associated with the mental illness, which the NHS describes as someone with an antisocial personality disorder (ASPD).

People with ASPD think differently to the majority of other people, as the condition affects how they perceive, feel, or relate to others. This often means that they lack empathy, are manipulative and usually disregard for the consequences of their actions.
Loic explained how an incident with his sister when they were both young, may well have been the 'first clue' which pointed towards him being a psychopath.

Speaking on the People Are Deep YouTube channel, he said: "I let my little sister drown. We were playing near the family pool. My mum was inside the house, she was cooking something for us. I remember that it was a sunny day and we were playing near the family pool and at one moment, she fell into it and I looked at her.
"I didn't jump into the pool. I wasn't stressed. I wasn't anxious. My heart doesn't skip a beat. I was looking at her and at one moment, I thought, maybe I need to do something.
"So I grabbed a little plastic golf club, gave it to her and took her back to the ladder. At this moment, my mum ran out of the house yelling and screaming 'why didn't you jump into the pool? You know how to swim!'

"I looked at her in the eyes and I responded 'my clothes are clean'. She was shocked. That was the first clue I think."
This experience of low anxiety, even in a situation as stressful as this, is certainly a strong indication of having the disorder, with another diagnosed psychopath suggesting that low anxiety, getting what you want and adrenaline seeking are three of the key signs.
