A man who has become infamous after injecting his biceps with petroleum jelly could face having both of his arms amputated due to the damage the risky procedure has done.
29-year-old Russian man Kirill Tereshin was given the nickname 'Popeye' after he got his biceps inflated in the hopes of attracting women.
Rather than gaining muscle mass like those chumps in the gym who put in hard work and pay attention to their diets, Tereshin had about three litres of petroleum jelly injected into his arms to inflate them to a much larger size and make him appear more buff.

It may come as a shock to you, but it turns out that doing this is actually a really bad idea as it doesn't actually make you stronger.

And to make matters even worse, Tereshin managed to block blood flow to his actual muscles, which resulted in some of his arm tissue dying and having to be removed.
As a result, he's had to go through a series of operations to remove hardened jelly and dead muscle, with the 'Russian Popeye' being told by doctors that he risked further health complications, which could result in amputation or even death.
Now, Russian media has reported that the risk of amputation is becoming more dangerous as they claimed that Tereshin risks losing both of his arms.

They report that doctors have told the man he needs multiple skin grafts to save his arms from a severe infection, but he's not in good enough health to go through with the surgery at the moment.
If the surgery did go ahead, it'd need a vascular surgeon, plastic surgeon and reconstruction team to all work on him to reduce the size of his arms and protect him from future health complications.
The 'Russian Popeye' first started injecting his arms in 2017, but the health nightmare he's suffered since then led him to admit he'd made a serious mistake.

In addition to the petroleum jelly, the man had also reportedly injected his arms with his own homemade concoction, which made them even bigger but did nothing to make him stronger.

Earlier this year, he shared footage of himself in hospital flexing his swollen arms and saying he was getting 'surgery to remove the biceps'.
Other social media posts have shown him with his arm wrapped in bandages, and now doctors have a job to stabilise his condition in time to perform the skin grafts before amputation of his arms becomes a serious danger.
Just in case you were thinking of inflating your arms with petroleum jelly, this is a pretty good reason why you definitely shouldn't do that.
