Ruth Codd opened up about the moment she agreed to have her first leg amputated after revealing in a recent TikTok video that she has now had her second leg removed.
The Celebrity Traitors star, 29, known for her roles in The Midnight Club and The Fall of the House of Usher, first injured her foot when she was playing football at school aged 15.
What started off as a 'very simple break' was not properly treated, and over the next eight years led to 'nerve damage and chronic pain'.
“I had an operation about every year until I got to… had a huge splint on my leg, walked with a limp, I was in pain all the time, the nerves were really damaged," the Irish actor explained on The Tommy Tiernan Show in 2023.

"I just said, 'I've had enough. I want to get on with my life, I feel like I'm being left behind'. So I chose to get it chopped off.
"The doctor was like, 'you know it's never going to get any better, your situation is never going to get any better. We can only prevent it from getting worse. The only way you can get some form of mobility back is through an amputation'.
"But I was ready for it… it had been like eight years at this stage so I was like grand, good to go, literally."

The turning point came when Ruth kept missing work due to the pain in her leg.
Eventually, she lost her makeup job and recognised that the condition of her leg was holding her back.
"When I lost that job that was kind of the turning point for me where I was like, 'I've struggled, I've given everything I can to try and save the leg. I'm done now,'" she added.
After the actor had the operation, she surprisingly didn't find it 'weird like seeing a part of your body gone'.

"I never got a phantom pain, the only thing I get is a phantom itch, but if I scratch my prosthetic it goes away," she said.
"Because it was an elective amputation they’re able to take the nerves and tuck them back up into your leg… so it's different when it's a traumatic amputation."
In a recent TikTok video, Ruth said revealed that she's now had her second leg amputated and called it a 'full-circle moment'.
"I'm back making TikTok content in my parents' house," the content creator explained.

"Bad news, I can't do it in front of that lovely blue floral wallpaper any more, due to the fact that that room is upstairs.
"I've just had my second below-knee amputation. So, unfortunately, those facilities are not available to me at the current moment in time. So a lot to unpack there for everyone involved."
Although she didn't provide any details on why she had the operation, she showed off her new wheelchair 'Fat Tony'.
"This is my new whip," she joked.
