Amber Heard Is Under Investigation For Perjury In Australia Over Dog Debacle

The government is investigating Heard over the 2015 doggy debacle, with new information indicating she lied to an Aussie court.

As Amber Heard battles it out in a US court against Johnny Depp over a defamation suit, the Aquaman star has another legal matter brewing Down Under.

Heard found herself in hot water in Australia in 2015 after she smuggled her dogs into the country with then-husband Depp.

The couple were in the country so Depp could film Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.

Now, authorities are now investigating if Heard lied during her 2015 court battle with the Australian government.

A spokesperson for Australia’s Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment confirmed the investigation.

"The department is seeking to obtain witness statements and once obtained, the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions will consider whether the evidence is sufficient to warrant pursuance of the matter," an Australian government representative told E! News.

Heard's fresh perjury investigation comes after new details emerged about the 2015 canine crisis during Depp’s UK libel trial with The Sun newspaper.

According to the Daily Mail, Depp's former estate manager Kevin Murphy told the London court that Heard ordered him to lie while under oath after she flew the two dogs into Queensland without declaring them.

When the couple entered the country with their two dogs, Pistol and Boo, all hell broke loose.

Heard faced charges for making a false statement on her immigration card when she checked 'no' to the question of importing anything into the country that should have been declared.

The dogs should have faced a minimum of 10 days in quarantine under Australian biosecurity laws.

At the time, Heard's and Depp's dogs made Australian headlines, and Deputy Prime Minister Barnaby Joyce threatened to destroy the dogs.

The doggy debacle saw Heard issued a $1,000 good behaviour bond in a Gold Coast court after she pleaded guilty to falsifying quarantine documents, according to ABC reports at the time.

The couple also issued a bizarre video apology.

"I am truly sorry that Pistol and Boo were not declared. Protecting Australia is important," Heard said in the video, according to the ABC.

Then-husband Depp also appeared in the video.

"When you disrespect Australian law they will tell you firmly," he said. "Declare everything when you enter Australia."

Since the duo's disastrous trip Down Under, the Aquaman star has added a new dog to her little pack.

She named the massive shaggy hound Barnaby Joyce.

And for those worried about Pistol and Boo, they were quickly evacuated from Australia before government officials could follow through on their threats.

Depp’s defamation case against Heard is ongoing, as is the Australian government’s perjury investigation.
