A rugby player was stabbed to death outside a UK nightclub over the weekend.
Mike Allen was out at Eclipse nightclub in Cornwall when he was attacked at around 3.15am on Sunday (30 April).
Seven other men and women were also rushed to hospital for treatment for injuries, however, none were said to be life-threatening.
A man was arrested on suspicion of murder, attempted murder, and causing grievous bodily harm with intent, and remains in custody.
Detective Inspector Ilona Rosson from the Major Crime Investigation Team said that it was being treated as an isolated incident.
“Following an incident in Bodmin last night, a man in his 30s has been confirmed deceased and officers are supporting his next of kin," the statement read.
“At this time we are treating this as an isolated matter and we are not seeking anyone else in connection to this incident.
“This is a live and active police investigation, and I would urge people not to speculate on social media but if you have information which may assist us, please report it.”
Following news of his death, friends and family have come out and paid tribute to Mr Allen, who was a popular rugby player at Bodmin RFC.
A spokesperson for Helston RFC said: "The thought's of everyone here at Helston RFC are with Bodmin RFC today.
"The tragic loss of Mike Allen will be felt by all. Our condolences to his family, friends and club."
Fellow club Lankelly Fowey said: "All of us at Lankelly RFC are deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Chabel (Mike Allen).
"Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and the entire Bodmin RFC community during this difficult time.
"Please accept our heartfelt condolences and know that we stand with you in this time of mourning. Bodmin RFC."
"It was a pleasure Chabel," wrote a third. "Never Forgotten Brother. Run hard for ever."
While another added: "Gentle giant you were an amazing and loving guy. you never said a bad word about anyone RIP Big Mike."
