 Shocking Clip Shows Bull Dragging Itself Along After Breaking Its Back Legs During Festival In Spain

Heart-wrenching footage shows a bull dragging itself along after breaking both of its back legs during a bull running festival in Spain.

The clip was shared by animal rights group Animalist Party Against the Mistreatment of Animals (PACMA) to highlight the mistreatment of bulls forced to take part in bull running festivals in Spain.

Filmed in the village of Mejorada del Campo, the footage starts off showing the bull in a transportation cage, ahead of the festival, but the animal attempts to make its escape from the cage and jumps to the ground.

However, as it makes impact with the concrete its legs buckle and break, according to local reports.

The injured animal can then be seen dragging itself along by its front legs, while its back legs hang limp behind.

According to local media, there's a suggestion the ramp was too high off the ground for the bull to get safely back down. As yet, it's not known if anyone is being investigated over the incident or what the outcome for the bull was, however, it's likely it will have been euthanised.

PACMA have now reported the incident to the authorities as a case of animal abuse and have asked social media users to support a petition for a change in animal protection laws in Spain.

After it was shared online the distressing video has racked up hundreds of thousands of views as well as comments from angry animal lovers. One post reads: "When abuse of animals is the protagonist of having fun there is only one clear idea and it is that we have a lot of developing to do as a species."

While another added: "How long are we going to continue supporting this?"

Although others appeared to support the idea of such festivals, with one commentator writing to say the animal 'could have broken them [its legs] there or in a field'.

Bull running festivals remain pretty popular in several countries, including Spain, despite a number of on-going campaigns from animal rights' charities such as the People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA).
