Police in New Zealand are on the hunt for a couple of women who have been dubbed the 'butt plug bandits' after being accused of stealing sex toys.

According to Newshub, the two women went into a store named Peaches and Cream in Lower Hutt in NZ last week before leaving with a number of sex toys without paying.

The women allegedly stole two 'anal climaxers' worth more than NZ $300 (£160 / US $200) apiece, as well as a Hustler brand vibrator worth upwards of NZ $250 (£130 / US $170) and a leopard print dress costing $95 (£50). They also attempted to take a wand vibrator costing NZ $220 (£120 / US $150).

Images of the two women, dubbed the 'butt plug bandits' have been shared on social media.

As the women were leaving the store, staff noticed that their bags appeared to be much larger than when they entered, so they approached the women and gave them a chance to hand over the sex toys.

Staff members who spoke to Newshub said one of the women 'looked pretty scared' and opened up her bag, apologising and returning one of the sex toys.

But the other woman refused to show staff the contents of her bag and instead walked off.

The unnamed staff member said: "I gave her multiple chances to return the item, but she said no."

The team at the store decided to post CCTV footage of the women on the Peaches and Cream Facebook page as a warning to other local shop owners. Since this was posted, other members of the local community have identified the women and claim they have targeted other shops in the area.

"We'd rather give our attention to genuine customers. It just takes away from the customer experience when we have to be on guard," the staff member added.

"That's not what we work in our stores for. We want to work with customers."

A police report has been filed and cops told the news outlet they had carried out an 'initial forensic analysis'. The mind boggles.

This isn't the first time the sex shop has been targeted by thieves, according to Peaches and Cream's CEO.

They told Newshub: "They steal lube, they steal vibrators, they steal masturbators, they steal lingerie, they steal DVDs. I think most of it would be personal use but some are stealing products to resell."

If caught, the thieves are usually hauled up in front of a judge and ordered to reimburse the items stolen.

The CEO added: "We don't normally want them back."

Yeah, I think I can see why...
