A four-year-old girl has been rescued four days after an earthquake hit Turkey and Greece.

Footage showed the little girl being found among a pile of rubble from a collapsed apartment building Izmir, Turkey.

The youngster was wrapped up in a blanket before being put into an ambulance while onlookers and rescue workers clapped and cheered.

Miraculously, the little girl didn't have an injuries.

According to reports, the little girl had been trapped for around 91 hours since the quake hit.

Nusret Aksoy, one of the rescuers who found the little girl, said he heard a child's scream so asked his fellow rescuers to keep quiet while they attempted to locate her.

Her arm was then spotted between blocks of concrete and rubble.

She was found in what had once been a kitchen area and was protected by a washing machine and dishwasher.

The team said she waved at them, told them her name and that she was OK; she then asked for some water and ayran (a Turkish yoghurt drink).

One rescuer said: "She smiled; she was waiting for us."

Tweeting after the rescue, Izmir mayor Tunc Soyer said: "We have witnessed a miracle in the 91st hour.

"Rescue teams pulled out [the] four-year-old alive. Along with the great pain we have experienced, we have this joy as well."

Tragically, her mother was reportedly found dead a short while later.

A 16-year-old girl was also saved in Izmir, 17 hours after the quake - her dog was also saved.

Speaking from hospital, she said: "I am very happy. Thankfully my father was not at home. My father couldn't fit there. He would hurt his head.

"I am tiny. I am short, so I squeezed in and that's how I was rescued.

"We stayed home with my dog. Both of us are well."
