A new injection could mean an end to premature ejaculation.

According to new research, injecting hyaluronic acid - which is usually found in moisturisers and lip fillers - could help men last longer in the sack.

Thirty men who were suffering with 'moderate to severe' premature ejaculation, had the substance injected directly into their penis - ouch - and it was found to increase their stamina by as much as three-and-a-half times.

According to reports, after a month-long trial some of the men were able to last two minutes, whereas before they were struggling to last 30 seconds.

Hyaluronic acid works by softening the tissue around the area, which helps to decreases the sensitivity in the penis and subsequently last longer.

Dr Mohamed Ragab, from Cairo University, said in the International Journal of Impotence Research: "Penis injection with the acid is safe and improves sexual satisfaction."

According to a research carried out by the NHS, the average time for a man to orgasm during sex is five-and-a-half minutes - though there is a clear variance.

The injection has been found to improve stamina in a small sample of men.

And though there is no specific rule on how long sex should last for, premature ejaculation - which is when it takes less than a minute to orgasm - has been linked to depression and stress. Some estimates suggest that as many as one in three men live with premature ejaculation.

But if you don't fancy putting a needle into your cock then we have good news as a drug is also being trialled that could help with the problem as well.

More than 200 men are currently taking part in the trial of the drug called cligosiban, which if found to work could help those who currently struggle with the condition.

It works by stopping oxytocin from binding to cells in the body and blocking off it off, which could delay an orgasm.

The new trial comes after a study of 88 men at Tulane University School of Medicine, in the US, were asked to take the new drug or a placebo every day.

There no one cause of premature ejaculation, with a mix of physical and psychological reasons.

At the start of the six-week trial, the average time for the men to orgasm was 33 seconds. However, the men who took the drug saw their time increase 3.8-fold - more than twice the effects of those taking the placebo.

Now, 220 men are taking place in another placebo-controlled trial, in 29 centres in the United States.

Similar to the injection, the drug could increase performance by more than three times.
