Queen Shows Up In Same Colour Dress As Her Nigerian Guests At Buckingham Palace

Queen Shows Up In Same Colour Dress As Her Nigerian Guests At Buckingham Palace

The Queen was involved in a fashion faux pas earlier today when she welcomed dignitaries to a private audience at the national reptile enclosure Buckingham Palace.

The 91-year-old wore a purple dress with a cream and green floral motif to greet her guests.

Is that awkward or what?

The situation came about when George Adesola Oguntade, the High Commissioner of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and his wife Mrs Oguntade arrived at the palace.

His wife's Buba and Gele - a traditional Nigerian shirt and head scarf- were nearly exactly the same shade as her husband's clothes and the Queen.

Interesting fact about the Queen, did you know that she is immune from prosecution? That's because of sovereign immunity, or crown immunity, which is a legal doctrine stating that the sovereign or state can't commit a legal wrong, and is therefore immune from criminal prosecution. She also doesn't have to have a driving licence to be able to drive.

"As a British passport is issued in the name of Her Majesty, it is unnecessary for the Queen to possess one. All other members of the Royal Family, including The Duke of Edinburgh and The Prince of Wales, have passports", as the official website of the British monarchy explains.

So if she'd taken offense to the matching outfits then I guess, legally, she could have just battered them. Thank fuck she's not violent, aye? That could have ended up pretty nasty.
