A video framed as showing the difference between younger and older generations at restaurants has sparked a huge debate on TikTok about etiquette when eating out.
TikToker Sally Loeza (@sallymander_) posted a video on her page, having filmed two tables at a restaurant where she'd been one evening.

The first, apparently dined at by a younger group, had neatly-stacked plates moved to the end of the surface, ready for the server to clear the space easily, while the second had been left looking a little more dishevelled.
"Younger generation vs older generation," Loeza wrote, implying she felt there was a generational difference in how some people treat hospitality workers.
Hashtags also included #boomers, #restaurantlife and #waitressproblems.
In a later comment, Loeza clarified that she wasn't the server at the restaurant, and had actually been a member of the party seated at the first table.

She explained: "I'm not the waitress... I was the customer to the left. Even though it's not 'our job' it takes 5 seconds to pick up after yourself and requires 0 effort."
After racking up more than 90,000 likes and 663,000 views, the video has sparked an interesting debate on TikTok about how we behave when eating out.
Some people simply agreed that those seated at the first table had done the right thing, with one writing: "I always stack the plates and gather it all together before leaving. It just seems more courteous!"
Someone else said: "It's funny cause the cleaner table also probably tipped better."
A third added: "Weird - everyone I know (Gen X) does this and none of us are servers or ever have been. But I've never seen anybody under the age of 30 do this."

Some argued that the issue wasn't a generational one, and was in fact more related to someone's upbringing.
"Lmao literally stop blaming generations and blame the way someone was raised... I'm 28 and clean up and so does my 17 year old brother..." one said.
Another person said they believed it didn't really matter either way, commenting: "I worked in restaurants and literally never once cared if someone left a table looking like either of these."
Others, however, explained that trying to help out by stacking plates for servers wasn't actually always that useful.

"As a busser I kinda don't like when people stack cause it ruins my flow and the way I do it. Best to just tidy it up instead," one TikToker wrote.
Another agreed: "I worked as a server and didn't like people stacking their plates. It messed with my way of doing things."
