Anthony Joshua has shared his first update since being involved in a horrific car crash which resulted in two deaths.

Posting to Instagram, the boxer shared a tribute to those who had been killed in the crash - Sina Ghami, Joshua's sport and exercise rehabilitation coach, and Latif 'Latz' Ayodele, his personal trainer.

They had been in a Lexus in Nigeria, which went off the Lagos-Ibadan expressway and crashed into a stationary truck which was parked off the road.

Ghami and Ayodele were described as 'close friends and team members' of Joshua, who suffered minor injuries from the crash and was discharged from hospital on New Year's Eve.

He and his mother went to a funeral home in Lagos to pay their respects to his friends as their bodies were prepared for repatriation.

In the post he shared, which was captioned 'my brother's keeper', Joshua could be seen sitting with others while someone held up a picture of Sina Ghami.

Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, 46, was the driver of the car and has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving. He has entered a plea of not guilty.

Nigerian police have said they believe the Lexus the men were in had been going 'beyond the legally prescribed speed limit' and the driver lost control of the car while overtaking.

It then crashed into the truck, which had been parked by the side of the road, and the right side of the car was significantly damaged in the impact.

Joshua, who had been a passenger on the left side of the car, was seen at the crash site saying he could 'feel pain all over'.

Kayode's lawyer told the Daily Mail that a last-minute decision could be why Joshua survived the crash, claiming that the driver asked the boxer to move from the front passenger seat, where he had initially been sitting.

He said: "I also understand that the journey started in Lagos and that initially Anthony had got into the front seat but the driver asked him to swap seats.

"He did this because Anthony is a big fellow and he couldn’t see the wing mirror properly so he asked him to move and he sat behind the driver. From what I understand, Latif was in front and then changed seats with Anthony."

The change in seats may have resulted in Joshua surviving the crash since he moved to the other side of the car away from the damage.

Joshua has since returned to the UK, and the funerals of Ghami and Ayodele are due to take place in London.
