Fans wondering who mystery girl was next to Prince William during Euro 2025 trophy presentation

Fans were left confused as the Lionesses collected their medals following their European title win

Football fans couldn't believe what they were seeing on Sunday night and it wasn't just because England won a football tournament on penalties.

A mystery girl was spotted next to Prince William at the trophy presentation as the Lionesses showed the men how it's done by beating Spain in the final to retain the European trophy - for the second time, I must add.

After a gruelling 120 minutes, where Alessia Russo had brought England level in normal time, the game went to spot kicks, with Hannah Hampton the hero once again as she saved two penalties, despite the goalkeeper having struggled with a serious eye condition that affects her depth perception since she was just a child.

Sarina Wiegman's squad battled through the pain to become unlikely winners, having squeezed past Sweden and Italy in the knockout stages, with right-back Lucy Bronze also revealing after the final whistle that she'd played much of the tournament with a fractured tibia.

However, despite all the storylines that were associated with the victory, including the lack of bank holiday celebrations, one which left fans talking was the presence of a young girl next to England's future King, who was enthusiastically handing out medals and handshakes following Chloe Kelly's emphatic winning penalty.

Unlike Donald Trump, who decided to forgo all traditions and stay on stage for Chelsea's Club World Cup final trophy lift recently, leaving Cole Palmer even more baffled than usual, the youngster did have some manners.

Although she was very eager to be there, the young girl let the Lionesses have their moment on stage for the actual trophy lift, but there were many wondering why she had been chosen rather than Princess Charlotte, who did travel to Basel alongside her father for the game.

On X, fans were quick to share their adoration for the youngster after she stole the show.

One wrote: "The little girl from the #Euro2025 Foundation, stood next to Prince William during the medal ceremony is killing me. Bless her man, fully trying to cut him out of the handshake proceedings."

Another noted: "She was fabulous, totally the most thrilled person ever to be there!"

"That girl jumping in front of Prince William to get the handshakes, huge move, she has my respect," joked a third.

Well, perhaps the English commentators should have been reporting on cricket instead, because they were stumped by who the girl was, but German and Belgian TV revealed that she was a young girl with epilepsy who was allowed on stage because it was her dream.

The girl, named Greta, was reportedly invited down to the festivities as part of the UEFA Foundation for Children, which sees children battling a series of ailments getting involved in honorary or recreational activities.

This, apparently, includes trophy presentations.

Speaking to press of the youngster's inclusion at the game, a representative from UEFA told the publication: "Greta is a cheerful, open-minded, and determined young girl with a great passion for sport.

"Her enthusiasm, perseverance, and love of sport made her a fitting and inspiring choice to participate in the medal ceremony alongside UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin."

Hopefully, she didn't also pocket a medal in the same way that the US President did, but clearly being on stage was enough for her to fulfil her dream, and it's clear that the vast majority of social media loved that she was there.
