People outraged over major thing missing from Apple's iPhone 17 announcement

The iPhone 17 Air is the thinnest ever phone Apple has in its catalogue

Apple has announced the launch of a brand-new iPhone, and fans are all raging about one tiny detail that makes all the difference.

We all have our preferences when it comes to our gadgets; there is the shape, size, colour and brand to think about.

However, when the tech giant revealed its iPhone 17 Air, people could only focus on what they should have created instead.

The tech company announced its new set of iPhones during an event on 9 September, including the release of a new smartphone.

The new iPhone 17 Air is just 5.6mm thin, making it the thinnest one yet.

It also features a 6.5" ProMotion display and a ceramic shield front and back.

“Despite being much thinner and lighter, iPhone Air still gets amazing all-day battery life,” the company said.

With a 48 MP rear camera, a titanium build, 12 GB of RAM, and the same A19 chip as the 17, the 17 Air gives customers colour options of black, white, light blue, green, and lavender.

"The 48MP Fusion Main camera with 2x Telephoto supports the latest advanced features like next-generation portraits and more," Apple added.

While Apple claims the new design is the 'most durable' yet, consumers are still unhappy.

One: they aren’t keen on the price, which is £999, £100 less than the 17 Pro, but £200 more than the 17 model.

People on X called it out, with one person asking: "Wtf is Air more expensive than the 17?!"

"I thought Air was cheaper than 17," another added, while a third wrote: "Yikes, that is one expensive phone. I’d be scared to do anything but use it on speaker while it was being held in a cradle."

The other issue?

They didn’t even want the 17 Air. What they wanted was the 17 Pro in BLACK.

Commenters flooded to X to call out their need for the black device, even compromising on some of the features.

One person wrote: “Apple REALLY should've made a black iPhone 17 Pro.”

Another said: “No BLACK iPhone 17 Pro?????”

Someone else wrote: “why tf is there no black iphone 17 pro.”

Finally, someone else wanted features from other models, and the price to be lowered, writing: “All I want is the iPhone 17 Pro camera system in the iPhone Air thinness at the iPhone 17 price in black.”

Talking about why the 17 Air is the best yet (despite people’s division on it) Apple said: "The latest iPhone models come with tons to love. Helpful Apple Intelligence tools to make your everyday easier. Better performance and reliability with Wi‑Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and Thread — all enabled by N1, our new wireless chip. Fast and secure connections with 5G and eSIM. And safety features designed to give you peace of mind.

“Our intention was to make an iPhone that feels like a piece of the future, powerful, yet so thin and light it seems to disappear in your hands."

If it helps, Apple is releasing a range of coloured silicone cases for the phone, which is something new.

The company wrote on its website: "The Silicone Case with MagSafe will be available in six beautiful colors: orange, terra cotta, neon yellow, purple fog, midnight, and black."
