Apple fans are complaining about the 'sudden' decline in their iPhone's battery life, but the tech giant insists it'll only last a few days.

CEO Tim Cook took to the stage last month to unveil the new iPhone 16 range, which is set to incorporate AI into its devices for the first time ever.

Dubbed 'Apple Intelligence', the iPhones will make use of the generative AI to help navigate through daily tasks.

Though if you purchase an iPhone today, these AI features won't be available until later this year through an update.

Incase you were wondering, here are the prices for the new iPhone 16 range:

  • iPhone 16 - starting at £799
  • iPhone 16 Plus - starting at £899
  • iPhone 16 Pro - starting at £999
  • iPhone 16 Pro Max - starting at £1,199

Now, amid the release of the new devices, iPhone users are complaining about the 'sudden' drop in their battery life.

After updating to the iOS18, the latest version of iPhone software, one person tweeted: "My father's iPhone 13 dropped a sudden of 3 percent battery health after updating to #iOS18, it was 100 till an hour ago, just after update it reduced to 97.

"Why do Apple do such things, giving updates to slowing down and degrading the old phones? #iphone13 #apple."

"iOS18 be tanking my iPhone battery since the last update," a second added.

"Anyone else with an iPhone 14 that updated to iOS18 having issues with their phone not charging to 100 percent anymore?" penned a third.

"I turned off clean energy charging and optimized battery charging and still no luck."

"@AppleSupport @Apple please fix this urgently… you costing us now…" a fourth wrote.

"I can’t have my iPhone 15 Pro Max loosing battery health so quickly…

"3 percent down since I upgraded to #iOS18… Please fix this…

"Fix it kindly and immediately. #iPhone15ProMax #iPhoneBattery sucks."

The good news is your battery life should return to normal in the next few days, Apple say.

When an iPhone is hit with the latest version of iOS, the new update runs 'certain tasks' in the background, such as re-indexing data from contacts and apps.

Basically, your device is working overtime in the background to make sure your private data is safe with the new update.

"If you notice that your battery life has decreased after updating your iPhone, wait a few days and then check again," Apple noted on their official support page.

"Even though you can use your iPhone immediately after an update, certain tasks related to the update continue in the background and might affect battery life and thermal performance."
