Brand New Range Rovers Have Roofs Ripped Off After Transporter Drives Into Bridge

Goodbye, almost £200,000 of new car...

Ah, that sinking feeling when you realise you've accidentally scraped your old banger of a car along a wall, or clipped the wheel on a curb - leaving you with damage that's not exactly life-changing, but will still be a bit of a ball ache to get sorted.

I can literally see my parents' eye rolls and sighs - just wanting to scream 'I KNOW, I KNOW' in their faces.

But what if the car in question was a particular pricey one, it was brand new and it got its roof completely ripped off? Makes me shudder.

That's what happened to a bunch of new Range Rovers and Jaguars, which had their roofs torn off when a lorry driver crashed into a rail bridge.

With a new Range Rover Sport coming in at around £65k and new Jags starting from £30k, that is a VERY BAD DAY AT THE OFFICE.

The incident took place on Wednesday 24 October at 8.30am, when the vehicle transporter towing 4x4s ploughed under a railway bridge in Perth, Perthshire. Many of the vehicles were even still in their plastic wrapping.

Photos from the scene - which was close to Perth railway station - show the luxury cars all battered and bruised, missing their roofs.

Gareth Ruddock, 40 - who saw the accident when it happened - said he reckons two of the cars were a 'write-off'. Ouch.

He said: "I was just there dropping my wife off at the station and I did a double take.

"There are some open-topped cars now.

"Some of them still had their plastic on, they must have been getting delivered. I just saw the aftermath.

"The police were there brushing up the bits and pieces which had broken off. The driver was there looking a bit unhappy."

The dad-of-two, who works for social enterprise Giraffe, continued: "Nobody was hurt but it wasn't a good day for that fella.

"I think pretty much all the cars on the top were damaged, but as they got further back the damage was lesser.

"The first couple of cars must have been written off, or you would have to rebuild the entire car."

Police Scotland has confirmed that officers attended the crash in Marshall Place, Perth, shortly after 8am, also saying that thankfully no one was injured and that the road was cleared by 9am.

And to think you thought you were having a bad day at work...

At least it means all those other little scrapes and bumps of yours pale into comparison, eh?
