England fans have been in the pub since 7am this morning ahead of their huge Euro 2020 match against Germany.

The scenes were reminiscent of England's 2018 World Cup success, during which fans were spotted necking pints on the news at 8am:

The England vs Germany game today kicks off at 5pm and will see Gareth Southgate's team take on the Germans at Wembley.

Supporters were seen in a beer garden in Sheffield drinking pints and wearing England shirts just after 7am.

It was shown on Good Morning Britain this morning, with someone on Twitter sharing, writing: "It's 7.11am and England fans are in the pub already. That's the most English thing I've seen for weeks."

And while there are most likely a fair few people calling in sick today so they don't miss any of the action, trade unions have suggested bosses go easy on their staff.

Yesterday, bosses were asked to let football fans finish work early so they can catch England take on Germany in the Euros today.

The Trades Union Congress (TUC) has said that firms should be as flexible as they can with staff so they can see the game kick off at 5pm.

TUC general secretary Frances O'Grady said: "Bosses should talk to their staff and try to let people who want to watch games do so - at work or at home - and then claim back the time afterwards.

"Whether it's about major sporting events like Euro 2020, attending a medical appointment or picking up the kids from school, allowing people more flexibility in how and when they do their work makes them happier.

"It cuts absenteeism and raises productivity."

England will face Germany at Wembley after a dramatic evening of football in Munich and Budapest that saw the conclusion of the Euro 2020 group stages.

At one or other point last Wednesday evening, England could have faced any of the teams from Group F, with France, Portugal, Hungary and the Germans all switching positions like a game of musical chairs.

In the end, Germany snatched a draw at the death in Munich against a Hungary side who can count themselves seriously unlucky to exit the tournament, whilst world champions France also drew with Portugal in the Hungarian capital to secure top spot on the group.

As the dust settled, it confirmed that England, who clinched top spot in their own group with a 1-0 win against the Czech Republic, would face their old foes on home soil tonight.
