Greene King is giving away free pints of Guinness across Christmas for a very good reason.

With Christmas creeping ever closer, loads of Brits are spending more time in the pub having catch ups with loved ones.

And for those who prefer to avoid the booze, Greene King has your back as it’s giving out free pints of alcohol-free Guinness 0.0.

Yep, gone are the days of being left with a flat glass of lemonade as there’s now a whole range of non-alcoholic beers, wines and spirits on offer - and amongst them is Guinness.

The pub-chain has collaborated with the Government’s official road safety campaign THINK! to try and discourage people from drink driving and all you need to do to claim is to flash your car keys.

Anna MacDonald, category marketing director beer at Diageo GB said: "Being the designated driver this Christmas doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a good pint of Guinness.

You can get free pints of Guinness 0.0.

"Guinness 0.0 is unmistakably Guinness, just without the alcohol.

"That’s why we’re proud to be working with THINK! and Greene King to give responsible drinkers a free pint of Guinness 0.0, so they can still be a part of the festive fun even when they’re driving."

Figures show that a whopping 79 percent of drink-drive involve males who are over the limit - and it's hoped this new collab might discourage people from taking the risk.

According to data from the organisation Brake, December is the second worst month for drink driving and the fourth worst for people killed and seriously injured.

As well as the risk of injuring yourself or others, driving while drunk is, of course, against the law - meaning if you're found behind the wheel while over the limit you could be hit with a driving ban, a fine of up to £2,500 or three months in prison.

Greene King is giving away the pints until 1 January.

Guy Opperman, Roads Minister at Department for Transport said: "Our highly regarded THINK! campaign will be aiming to save more lives again this Christmas season and will help continue to raise awareness of the dangers of drink-driving.

"This is a great initiative which encourages people to act responsibly while still enjoying the festive season."

To take advantage of the offer, head here where you can find a pub near to you that is taking part and then simply show your keys - and the downloadable voucher - at the bar.
