Jeremy Clarkson leaves customers baffled with 'ban' on three items you'd normally find in a pub

The establishment prides itself on supporting British farmers

In the small village of Asthall, located in the Cotswold countryside, you’ll find The Farmer’s Dog, a charming stone pub run by the one and only Jeremy Clarkson.

The upmarket boozer was officially opened to the public last summer and prides itself on selling British-reared meat, a crisp pint of Hawkstone lager and a mean Sunday carvery.

However, despite its solid four-star Tripadvisor rating and flurry of positive reviews, the six-month-old business has already faced a host of teething problems.

These include punters stealing glasses, traffic chaos ensuing outside, and the fact that Clarkson said he’s probably going to ‘develop a skin disease from the stress of running it’.

And just like any fine establishment, it has its rules.

For example, there’s no food on a Monday night, just bar snacks, according to the Top Gear favourite himself.

It’s also stipulated that dog owners should avoid bringing their mucky pups into the pub.

Another legislation that managers at Clarkson’s watering hole have set out is that under no circumstances can you order a bizarre trio of items with your Sunday dinner.

These were recently revealed by a food reviewer who headed down to The Farmer’s Dog.

The journalist claimed she’d booked a month in advance for a table for her and her dining partner, only to learn they had a single hour to gorge out.

Initially, she claimed the strict time limit made them feel rushed, as per Birmingham Live.

However, by the end of the meal, they realised the 60-minute window was just long enough.

Remarking on the ‘busy but not overcrowded’ atmosphere, the diner, whose name was Emma Gray, explained that the Sunday carvery was served by a member of the team to avoid you ‘having to wonder whether someone before you has licked the serving spoon’.

After chowing down on lashings of beef and gravy, as well as an ‘amazing’ range of veg and helpings of cauliflower cheese, the pair decided to rate their meals nine out of ten.

Afterwards, they ate apple crumble and custard, which they agreed was ‘huge, and it was delicious, not overly sweet, and there was still some substance in the apple’.

However, the reviewer also revealed that three items were barred from her during the course of her stay.

These were coffee, ketchup and, weirdly, lemonade.

Interestingly, The Farmer’s Dog hasn’t sold ketchup since it opened last summer, and fans of the star have previously taken to social media to have their say.

“Just found out Jeremy Clarkson’s pub does the serve ketchup because it’s not British and I don’t know how to feel about that,” wrote one X user.

A second typed: “He opened a pub the guy is a legend, he doesn't have tomatoes ketchup... Hmm still yes, Jeremy Clarkson is ok lol.”

The lemonade ban also meant the eater wasn’t able to order a cider shandy.

Meanwhile, baffled patrons next to her were reportedly ‘politely denied’ when they requested a latte.

Gray claimed that despite not being able to request the three items, they didn’t ‘harm’ her visit to The Farmer’s Dog because what they did order ‘tasted amazing’.

So, it’s bad news if you’re a coffee-addicted, lemonade-loving foodie who is partial to a dollop of tomato sauce on their Sunday dinner.

Otherwise, we’ll catch you for a pint and a bit of scran ASAP.
