Traces Of Cocaine Found On Samples From The Houses Of Parliament

Who could possibly have suspected this? Oh wait...

An investigation has discovered traces of cocaine at a number of locations within the Houses of Parliament.

The investigation, carried out by VICE, took samples from nine different locations within the building and found that four of them were contaminated by the Class A drug.

That includes areas around the Strangers Bar, as well as the toilets around MPs offices.

Basically, they took a type of special wipe into the building that is a pale pink colour to begin with, but if cocaine is detected turns blue.

The areas that samples were taken from are accessible to parliamentary passholders (civil servants, MPs, Lords, etc) as well as visitors to the Palace of Westminster.

In fact, of the four locations that came back positive, two were toilets in private areas of the building outside the offices of those who work at the Houses of Parliament.

Another positive test was taken in the disabled toilets outside The Woolsack, another of the bars in the Palace of Westminster frequented by visitors and staff alike.

This latest news comes after several candidates in the Conservative Party leadership race admitted to having taken drugs in the past.

That's big news because, as everyone is aware, the next leader of the Conservative Party will also become the Prime Minister after Theresa May recently stepped down.

Of those involved, Michael Gove admitted to using cocaine as a young journalist, Jeremy Hunt, Dominic Raab, and Angela Leadsom admitted that they'd used cannabis, and Rory Stewart said that - bizarrely - he'd smoked opium at a wedding in Iran.

Figure that one out, if you can.

The leader of the pack currently, and the favourite for the top job, is Boris Johnson. He's been pretty conflicting with regards to the statements he has made about his potential past use of drugs.

In fact, whilst on one occasion he admitted taking cocaine, he then joked on an episode of BBC's political comedy panel show Have I Got News For You that he didn't actually take it.

He said: "I sneezed and so it did not go up my nose, in fact, I may have been doing icing sugar."

Righto, Boris.

Of the tests, a Parliamentary spokesperson said: "Parliament takes the issue of substance misuse very seriously and offers a range of welfare and health support services for those who need them.

"Parliament is a public place and we welcome over a million visitors a year who have access to the facilities. Should drug use be identified in Parliament, appropriate action would be taken."
