Donald Trump says relationship with Elon Musk is over as president warns him of 'very serious consequences'

Trump warned the tech tycoon 'will have to pay the consequences' if he switches allegiance to the Democrats

Donald Trump has shut down the idea of him and Elon Musk wiping the slate clean in wake of their social media spat.

The US President, 78, didn't mince his words when he was asked whether he wants to work it out with his former pal, as he simply responded: "No."

When quizzed about whether this is the end of their relationship, Trump told NBC: "I would assume so, yeah."

He said he has 'no intention' of speaking to the Space X boss, 53, as he is 'too busy doing other things', while accusing his friend-turned-foe of being 'disrespectful to the office of the President'.

"I think it’s a very bad thing, because he’s very disrespectful," the commander-in-chief continued. "You could not disrespect the office of the President."

Musk - who recently quit his role in the administration as head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) - caused murders on Thursday (5 June) after making his dislike of Trump's 'One Big Beautiful Bill Act' known.

It's set to extend significant tax cuts, exemptions, and spending adjustments if it goes through, and the billionaire described it as a 'disgusting abomination'.

Musk reckons the controversial bill will add trillions of dollars to the national deficit if passed, while he fumed that it will 'undermine' all the work he did while leading DOGE.

He shared his critique of the proposed legislation in a series of posts on X, before following these up with a string of shocking allegations about Trump.

Musk claimed that he was the reason why the President was sitting in the White House, before extraordinarily alleging that Trump is listed in the Jeffrey Epstein files - although this post has since been deleted.

Trump said the discussion of his links to the disgraced financier, who took his own life while awaiting sex trafficking charges in jail, was 'old news.'

"That’s called ‘old news,’ that’s been old news, that has been talked about for years," he said on Saturday (7 June). "Even Epstein’s lawyer said I had nothing to do with it. It’s old news."

Musk has also floated the idea of creating a 'new political party to represent the 80% in the middle' - even going as far to share a potential name for it, 'The America Party.'

There's also been a suggestion that the tech tycoon could now throw his money behind Trump's political rivals.

But the President has warned Musk will face 'very serious consequences' if he does choose to fund Democrats.

"If he does, he'll have to pay the consequences for that," Trump said. "He'll have to pay very serious consequences if he does that."

Trump did not elaborate on what these consequences might be.
