Imagine celebrating your favourite sports team winning a league title, only to have the police show up and shoot your dog.
That’s sadly what happened when an NBA watch party suddenly turned deadly.
It all came to a head in an apartment complex in Canoga Park, when a woman was cheering on the New York Knicks' championship win.
Little did she know that the Los Angeles police officers would be on their way after responding to a call about a screaming woman, per the authorities.

Once there, they claim they were rushed by the 2-year-old golden retriever, Saint Bernard and poodle mix, named Jameson, and gunned him down.
According to witnesses, the police were called after a woman was heard shouting, with Raymon Alvarez, a neighbour, saying he too heard the noise.
Speaking with ABC7, he described what he could make out when he went outside to go for a walk.
"The screaming I heard was like, 'Ah! Oh my God! Oh my God!' Like just, pure screaming," Alvarez said.
However, he said when he came home, that’s when he picked up the sound of gunfire.
"I didn't think they were gunshots at first because this area is not really known for any sort of gun violence," Alvarez said.
In the aftermath of the tragedy, the owner of the pooch can be seen crying and lying on the floor beside her pup on footage captured and reported by the outlet.
She can be heard stating: "Oh my god! Oh my God. I cannot believe this is happening. I cannot believe this is happening."

"We were just so happy. We were just so happy. We were just celebrating the Knicks. We were f****** celebrating the Knicks," the woman screamed in the clip.
"He's such a good dog!" the woman repeated on the ground next to Jameson.
The incident happened on Saturday (13 May) just after a neighbour called the police to request a check on the Knick’s fan around 8pm due to the noise.
Now, there is a memorial at the site of Jameson’s death.
According to NBC LA, when officers arrived to check the welfare of the woman, they learned she was not in danger and that she was simply happy that the Knicks were beating the San Antonio Spurs in Game 5.
While speaking to the woman, apparently, the dog was beside her and barking at the officers, the LAPD said.
Police allegedly asked her to secure the dog, and she is reported to have closed the door and then reopened it.
The LAPD said in statement that an officer opened fire when the dog apparently charged at them.
LADbible reached out to the LAPD for comment.
