Eurovision fans are concerned that history is about to repeat itself after they compared the Village stage set up to the tragic Willy Wonka experience in Glasgow.

The 2024 Eurovision Song Contest is being held in Malmö, Sweden.

In the lead up to the Grand Final at the Malmö Arena on 11 May, there'll be heaps of special events and concerts in Folkets Park.

And with the event just weeks away, people are getting pretty excited.

The organisers explain: "Sweden's oldest ‘folk park’, and one of Malmö's most beloved public places, will transform into the Eurovision Village from May 4-11.

"The park will become a dedicated Eurovision area, with unique experiences and encounters between Eurovision fans, Malmö residents and visitors.

"Entry into the Eurovision Village will be free of charge for the whole week to anyone who wishes to come along."

But some fans have been left rather underwhelmed by the stage set-up in the Eurovision Village, with many claiming it's on the small side.

Photos of the stage have been shared online and many are comparing it to the huge stage set up in Liverpool, which hosted Eurovision 2023.

People are so underwhelmed that they've even been making comparisons to the disastrous Willy Wonka experience which took place in Glasgow earlier this year.

The infamous event turned out to be a proper shambles when it promised to 'turn dreams into reality' but instead ended in tears, chaos, and even the police being called.

When guests turned up at the venue, they were shocked to find an 'abandoned, empty warehouse', while others described the event as 'absolutely appalling' and a 'waste of money'.

There were a few Wonka-themed props littered about and a small bouncy castle.

Meanwhile, refreshments went as far as what looked like a bottle of lemonade split between the entire attendees and pick n mix consisting of five sweets.

Unfortunately, the Eurovision Village stage has reminded some people of the disappointing Wonka experience.

One wrote: "Walked through the park where eurovision village is going to be held, and it was giving oz experience in glasgow."

While another said: "Is this Eurovision’s Willy Wonka Experience? Malmö’s Eurovision village is… something."

And a third added: "It’s giving Eurovision’s Willy Wonka Experience."

While a fourth wrote: "Strong failed Willy Wonka Party feeling at the to-be #Eurovision Village in Malmö. Honestly, this is probably the worst place to hold a crowded event as it doesn't have enough space."

And a fifth commented: "This is giving Willy Wonka Chocolate Experience."

While there are two stages in the park, the one pictured is the Main Stage.

Eurovision has recently revealed the line up, with Olly Alexander representing the UK this year with his song, 'Dizzy'.

LADbible has contacted Eurovision for comment.
